JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A school bus crash with multiple injuries shut down two northbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard at Collins Road for nearly two hours.

At least eight students on the bus, which was heading to Chimney Lakes Elementary, are being treated for minor injuries,
...more according to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue spokesperson Tom Francis.

There were originally no injuries reported in this crash, according to District Chief D.K. Hooten, who said JFRD was called to the scene only to clean up fluid from the accident.

Hooten said the Assistant Principal of Chimney Lakes Elementary arrived at the crash site, and after checking with students, called for medical assistance. JFRD then transported the eight students to Shands, Baptist, and Orange Park Medical Center.

The accident happened around 7:30 a.m. and blocked two northbound lanes on Roosevelt Boulevard, which reopened just before 9:15 a.m.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Firefighters with the Clay County Fire Rescue Department were called to a residential structure fire in Middleburg early Tuesday morning.

According to Clay County Fire Rescue, they responded shortly before 5:00 this morning to a home on Lightning Lane.  People
...more living inside the house told Fire Rescue they were able to escape the fire because the family dog had awakened them.

According to a news release, eleven units and approximately 20 firefighters responded to the home.  Fire crews arrived on scene 9 minutes after the initial 911 call, however the home was on stilts and well involved prior to their arrival.

No firefighters and no one inside the home was injured.

Fire crews reported the fire under control around 5:30 this morning.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clay County Fire Marshall.  At this time it is not being considered suspicious.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- A steady stream of mourners paid their respects to a North Florida detective killed while investigating a tip about a meth lab.

Monday morning Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler said "David was a hero, a man among
...more men."  At today's funeral service a poem that David wrote to his wife Jennifer was read to mourners.  It said in part, "she found me and has never let me go.  For this I am ever grateful."

"This may sound strange, but David did not die," said First Baptist Church of Middleburg Pastor Alan Floyd.  "He is present with the Lord.  He simply changed residences."

Florida Governor Rick Scott, who also attended the service, said the hearts of 19 million Floridians go out to White's family.

Lauren Wahl is a pizza hostess by night and flower clerk by day.  She said flower orders spiked today as people learned of the shooting.  "Police stations from other cities and Jacksonville and everywhere else are really coming together to support a fallen officer here in Clay County," Wahl said.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler this afternoon announced funeral arrangements for Detective David White.

A police motorcade transported White's body from Shands Jacksonville hospital back home to Clay County Friday evening.

The viewing will take place at Russell Haven of Rest Home in Green Cove Springs.

The funeral for Detective White will be held Monday, February 20th, at 10 a.m.

The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church of Middleburg.

The burial is open only to family and fellow law enforcement members and will have a private reception to be held afterwards.

There is an account set up for anyone wishing to donate money to the families affected.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- A Clay County deputy is dead and another is in the hospital after a meth lab bust went badly Thursday night.

A news release from Mary Justino with the sheriff's office says Detective David White was shot and killed while approaching a home at 4874 Alligator Blvd.

White died on the way to the hospital, the release says.

The 35-year-old narcotics detective was married and left behind two toddler-aged children, Sheriff Rick Beseler said in a news conference.
