MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- A First Coast school is dealing with the death of a goat used for education.
Teachers at Wilkinson Junior High in Middleburg discovered one of the goats dead Monday morning.
Two other goats survived the weekend attack, but had severe cuts and bite...more wounds.
Dr. Craig Price of Black Creek Veterinary Hospital thinks a wild animal attacked the goats. They were part of agriculture education at the school.
"We found out they are still healthy. They had multiple puncture wounds. We took X-rays to make sure there weren't any vital organs involved," Dr. Price said.
Deputies in Clay County initially thought the goat was shot to death. But the vet didn't find any bullet or bullet fragments.
Detective Con Kelley says it was most likely a wild animal, although they don't know how it got inside the fence.

1 goat was fatally shot and 2 goats have non-life threatening injuries and are being cared for by a local veterinarian, McDonald said.
The investigation has been turned over to the Clay County Sheriff's Office. "I can confirm we are investigating the death of at least one goat on the school’s property," said Mary Justino, spokeswoman for the CCSO. "Our General Investigations Unit has assigned a detective and I hope to hear back from him soon with some details."
An autopsy is being done on the deceased goat to verify how it was killed, Justino said.

Justino said the sheriff's office has not positively identified the body found in the burning car as that of Reznick but it is a possibility based on the information detectives have gathered so far. A final identification by the Medical Examiner's Office is still pending.
Tuesday the Clay County Sheriff's Office released information that the car found was a 1995 Mercury Sable registered out of Pennsylvania. Wednesday Justino said Reznick is the registered owner of the car found burning.

Florida Division of Forestry personnel discovered the burning Friday afternoon while responding to a small woods fire in the 2400 block of Blanding Boulevard.
Once they entered the woods they found the small fire was a burning car. After the fire was put out a dead body was found inside.
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- The Clay County Fire Rescue Department is working to get a 10 acre brush fire under control in Western Clay County.

The fire started around 1:30 Monday afternoon and its origin is unknown at this time, Bush said.
When rescue crews arrived at the scene of the brush fire they found it was fast moving and was possibly threatening homes.
The Florida Division of Forestry has multiple tractors plowing lines around the fire with plans to strengthen them.
Bush said a CodeRED emergency notification was sent to residents in the immediate vicinity of the fire and to homes on surrounding streets which may be affected by either smoke or flames.

They had been alerted to a small woods fire in the 3400 block of State Road 21 south of Middleburg.
When rescue workers entered the wooded area, they found the car burning.
Once the fire was out, they discovered a body was inside the car, Justino said. Detectives with the Clay County Sheriff's Office are now handling the death investigation.
Justino said they are not able to divulge if the victim is a male or female, the exact type of car or where the body was found inside the vehicle.
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- A man was killed when a tree fell on him while he and his brother were trying to remove it Thursday evening.
Around 9 p.m. Thursday David and Chester Duve, brothers, were working to pull down a tree in the 2900 block of Guava Court in Middleburg, according to a...more news release from Clay County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Mary Justino.
Chester was cutting down the tree with a chainsaw when the chainsaw became stuck, Justino said.
Chester wrapped a strap around the tree. He then tied the strap to a pickup truck being driven by David.
David thought Chester was clear when he snatched the strap with the pickup truck. Justino said this caused the tree to come down directly on top of Chester, pinning him.
Rescue crews were able to free Chester and perform CPR. Justino said he was taken to Orange Park Medical Center where he died.
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a fire at a Clay County business that left the building damaged and injured a firefighter, according to a release from Clay County Fire Rescue.
The fire broke out at Woody's Wheels in the 2300 block of Blanding Blvd....more at about 6:40 Wednesday night, Capt. Ron Hildum wrote in the release.
When firefighters got there, Hildum said they encountered heavy fire inside the building.
Despite crews knocking the fire down within two minutes of arrival and getting the fire completely out in under 20 minutes, Hildum said the $150,000 building sustained heavy smoke and heat damage.
None of the building's occupants were injured, but Hildum said a firefighter suffered what appeared to be a minor injury. Hildum did not expand on what that injury is.
